As a plasterer, you’ll know that safety should always be a top priority.

It’s pretty simple, if you’re a plasterer you need a plastering SWMS.

A plastering SWMS (safe work method statement) is a document that outlines the safe work procedures for specific tasks or jobs you do as a plasterer. It includes information on the risks involved, as well as the control measures that will be used to eliminate, or minimise those risks. It is required by law when a plasterer performs specific tasks.

Depending on your business, you should also consider what other safety documents you need to have in place such as a safety management plan. This is because the risks associated with plastering are significant. Plus, legislation requires you to manage safety. The easiest way to do this is by having a management plan in place.

“Hi Rachael,

Thanks for calling me back today, I really appreciated the time you took to answer all my questions (and late on a Friday afternoon too!)

Nick, my builder husband, is a little wary of website subscription-based services as he prefers to speak with someone before he signs up to anything. Now that I’ve relayed all the information you gave me, he feels really comfortable and will jump on this weekend and sign up so he can get all his safety documentation up to date.

It was great to speak to you as both Nick and I were really impressed with your website. (we almost thought it was too good to be true! 😉) It is so user friendly, exceptionally well laid out, has loads of relevant information, and a great selection of plans which are well priced too. It was the best WHS Documentation website I’ve seen and I have looked at a lot of WHS websites this week and I kept coming back to yours!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and thanks again!”

Frequently Asked Questions

(and if you can’t find your answer below, then try asking Shannon our Virtual Safety Assistant!)

No.

Our plastering safe work method statements, WHS Management Plans, toolbox talks, policies and SOPs are fully written for you with the most common tasks, risks, hazards and controls for all work completed on construction sites. They even provide extra information within the documents that will keep your workers better informed for a safer and more efficient workplace for you.

Our checklists and registers are forms that need to be filled in, however they are easy to use ‘tick and flick’ documents mostly to ensure that you can get back to doing what you need to be doing to run your business.

But as a bonus, you’ll also get access to a blank SWMS template!

Our highly qualified lead safety advisor has many years experience on-site, writing plastering SWMS and safety plans, helping others to do so, and training others to do it themselves. Here at Safe-R Outcomes, we know the tasks performed by each trade, and the risks and hazards associated with doing them on a construction site.

Contrary to popular belief, you only need one plastering SWMS to cover all the high risk work you are completing. The legislation sets this out very clearly, including what tasks are considered ‘high risk construction work’.

Here is an excerpt from Safe Work Australia website…

"One SWMS can be used for work that involves multiple high risk construction work activities,
for example a work activity that requires using powered mobile plant, working at heights
of more than 2 metres and working adjacent to a road used by traffic other than pedestrians.

A SWMS is classed as an administrative control and is used to support higher order controls
to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety, for example engineering controls.

A SWMS is generally different from other documents that focus on specific tasks or processes,
such as a Job Safety Analysis or a Safe Operating Procedure. A SWMS is not intended to be
a procedure—rather it is a tool to help supervisors and workers confirm and monitor the
control measures required at the workplace."

In other words, you don’t need a different plastering SWMS for each power tool or each piece of equipment you use, or for every task you complete.

Some other safety companies try to make it extra confusing (and costly for you) by saying you need multiple plastering SWMS, but our goal has always been to make things as easy and budget friendly as possible for our customers.

Our documents make it really easy to get your safety started immediately. You can watch the video here

That’s it!

Yes!

If you have a specific task you need to include, then you can edit it via the Word tab. It is very easy to do and requires no technical skills. You can then either save it and email it, or print it out.

If you’re in the middle of a job and something changes, you can always make the changes on a hard copy in pen too, by dating and initialising it.

Yes! Even if your work is under $250 000, legislation says that you must manage not only your safety, but everyone who may be affected by your work. If you don’t, the repercussions can be very serious. Having a safety plan shows that you are doing your part by following the law, which in turn can reduce your exposure to fines, or civil litigation.

Other reasons you might need a safety plan include:

  • Being asked by a Principal Contractor or safety inspector
  • To apply for insurance and local government contracts
  • To apply for tenders or other contracts

Absolutely. You can add your logo to the online and word versions of our documents.

No you don’t! You simply login and navigate to the document you require, upload your logo and fill in your details. Your document will then be created with your details and you can download and save it to your phone or laptop. You can print it or email it too.

Sure! Send us a message or voicemail with your contact details and we’ll get in touch with you. Alternatively, you can also book a call at a time that suits you.
